Puzzle #432 on poople.io: two accepted moves, a brown O that already matches POOP, and a rejected two-letter change. Captured by TabGameHub on October 20, 2026; this is a partial ladder, not a solution. Original project · 2026-10-20
Latest check: gameplay checked

Two one-letter moves were accepted, a matching letter turned brown, and a two-letter change was rejected with “Not one letter different”. We stopped before reaching POOP, so we did not see the end screen, stats or sharing. Phones were not tried.

What is Poople?

Poople is a free daily word ladder at poople.io. Everyone gets the same four-letter starting word, and you change one letter at a time until it reads POOP. Every step has to be a real word, and the fewer steps you take, the better.

Its creator, Elias Furst, says his dad invented it as “the to-poop game” for family road trips, almost twenty years ago. He rebuilt it as a browser game after Wordle took off. This guide covers rules and strategy. It is not an answer list, so it won’t spoil today’s puzzle.

How to play Poople

The steps below follow the original site and our own moves on puzzle #432.

  1. Open poople.io. Read the how-to-play box once, then choose Click here to play!
  2. Look at today’s starting word at the top, shown with the puzzle number, for example “#432: SUIT”.
  3. Type a real four-letter word that differs from the last word by exactly one letter, and press Enter. SUIT to SLIT works; SUIT to SLAT does not.
  4. Watch for brown tiles. A brown letter already sits where POOP needs it.
  5. Keep climbing until you type POOP. Try to match the shortest path the game knows for that word.

Controls

Poople is keyboard-only, and you can use either keyboard.

Physical keyboardType letters, Backspace to fix a mistake and Enter to submit. This is how we played.
On-screen keyboardTap or click the letter keys, the ⌫ key and Enter below the board. Shown on the page; we did not try it on a phone.
Yesterday’s answerShows one shortest path for the previous day’s word.
Show stats / How to playYour results and the rules box, linked under the keyboard.

Poople rules in one table

These rules come from the game’s own help box and the messages we saw.

TargetAlways POOP.
Starting wordA random four-letter word chosen each day, the same for everyone.
One moveChange exactly one letter. The other three stay in place.
Real words onlyEach step must be a word the game accepts.
Wrong moveA two-letter change is refused with “Not one letter different”. It costs nothing but time.
GoalReach POOP in as few steps as possible. Yesterday’s answer shows one shortest path for the previous day.

Poople strategy: how to find a shorter path

These tips come from how the puzzle works. None of them gives away a daily answer.

  1. Work backward from POOP. Real words one letter away include LOOP, HOOP, COOP, POOL, POOR and PROP. Your last step has to come from a word like these.
  2. Aim for the double O early. POOP’s middle letters are both O, and words with -OO- in the middle are usually close to the end.
  3. Keep brown letters where they are unless you are stuck. Each one is a letter you won’t have to change later.
  4. Swap vowels to escape a dead end. Changing A to O, or I to O, often opens up new words.
  5. Open Yesterday’s answer the next day to compare your ladder with a shortest path. Seeing how the best route moved is a quick way to improve.

Poople questions, answered

Answers based on poople.io and our session on October 20, 2026.

What is Poople?A free daily word game at poople.io. Each day has one four-letter starting word, and you change one letter at a time until it becomes POOP. The goal is the shortest path.
Who made Poople?Elias Furst, a software developer. His About page says his dad invented the game, then called “the to-poop game”, to keep the kids busy on family road trips, and that he rebuilt it online after Wordle.
What happens if I change two letters? The game refuses the word. In our session, SLOT to SLAB showed “Not one letter different” and nothing was added to the ladder.
What do the brown tiles mean?A brown tile marks a letter that already matches POOP in that position. In our session, the O in SLOT turned brown because POOP also has an O third.
Is there a limit on moves? The how-to-play box asks you to reach POOP in as few steps as possible and does not mention a move limit. Every extra step just makes your ladder longer than the best one.
Can I see the answer? The game has a Yesterday’s answer button, which shows one shortest path for the previous day. TabGameHub does not publish daily answers.
Is Poople free?Yes, as far as we saw. No payment or account was needed. Ads may appear beside the board.
