The homepage rendered a public isometric city map with billboards, a live "online" counter, a cookie notice, and "Sign up free" / "Log in" buttons. No guest mode was seen on the public page. We did not create an account or play, so in-game screens, controls and the economy are described from the Terms of Use and third-party coverage, not from our own session.
Requirements and unknowns
What is Lagos Life?
Lagos Life is a Sims-style life game set in Lagos, Nigeria, that runs free in your browser at lagoslife.app. Its own meta description calls it a game where you "ride danfo, chop amala at Shitta, party at Quilox, survive NEPA — and make real friends." The Vatar product page describes a multiplayer city where every avatar belongs to a real person: renting or buying a home in Lekki or VI, working a job or running a hustle, taking part in player-run elections and legislation, and socialising through crews, dates and parties.
The Vatar page lists three cities live at the time of our check: Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt. It is operated by Vatar, Nigeria, according to the Terms of Use. For a solo, no-sign-up alternative that simulates one random life using real country statistics, see the 1 in 8 Billion guide. Both games sit in TabGameHub's browser life simulator games collection.
How to start Lagos Life
These are the steps our page check followed. We did not create an account, so later screens are described from the Terms of Use and the Vatar product page, not from our own play.
- Open lagoslife.app directly. The Terms of Use name only lagoslife.app and lagoslife.eliysites.com as official; other sites using the name are not covered by the official Terms.
- Read the homepage, which shows a public isometric city map, billboards, a live "online" counter and a cookie notice.
- Select "Sign up free" and provide a display name, username, email, password and a man/woman avatar choice, per the Terms of Use. The Terms say the game is intended only for people 18 or older.
- After sign-up, the Vatar product page lists what the city offers: jobs and hustles, renting or buying homes in Lekki and VI, crews and parties, player-run elections and real-time chat. We have not seen those screens ourselves.
Controls and interface
We did not sign in or play, so we cannot confirm key bindings, menus or on-screen buttons from direct testing. The public homepage itself uses ordinary browser buttons ("Sign up free", "Log in") and a cookie-notice dialog. The Vatar product page describes general activities such as working shifts, running a business, driving danfo, chatting in real time, and voting, but does not publish a control scheme we could independently confirm. Treat any specific key or menu layout as unverified until the game's own in-session help screen is checked.
Why Lagos Life is trending
According to a MarTech Africa case study, Lagos Life was built overnight by founder Shalom Rayhamen (company Vatar) and published on X at 7:11 a.m. on 1 October 2026, inspired by The Sims 3 and the browser game Danfo Run. The article describes the core loop as creating a character, finding a job, earning money, paying rent, eating, socialising and moving up, with starting economic categories nicknamed "Nepo" and "Lapo". It also reports that Abuja and Port Harcourt were added after player requests, that an outage on 2 October was compensated with virtual currency, and that a money exploit forced an economy repair.
The developer, Rayhamen, has also reported very large player and visit numbers and an angel funding round, according to MarTech Africa; those figures come from the developer and have not been independently audited, so TabGameHub does not treat them as confirmed facts.
Tips before you sign up
These are setup and account tips drawn from the official Terms of Use, not strategy from our own play, since we did not sign in.
- Use the official address, lagoslife.app, rather than a lookalike domain. The Terms of Use name only lagoslife.app and lagoslife.eliysites.com as official.
- Check the 18+ rule before signing up. The Terms of Use state the game is intended only for people 18 or older.
- Remember Game Naira has no cash value. The Terms describe in-game "Naira"/₦ as a fictional unit that cannot be withdrawn, even though it can optionally be purchased with real money via Flutterwave.
- Keep your account to yourself. The Terms prohibit bots, scripts or macros, exploiting bugs, and selling accounts or Game Naira for real money.
- If you want to see gameplay before signing up, a third-party YouTube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jkakD5uE9k) shows the game in action; TabGameHub does not host or embed it.
Lagos Life vs 1 in 8 Billion
Lagos Life and 1 in 8 Billion are both browser life simulators, but they work very differently. Lagos Life is a multiplayer city you build a character inside, with an account, a fictional in-game currency, and other real players around you; signing up is required before you can play. 1 in 8 Billion is a solo simulation of one randomly assigned life, built on real country statistics, with no account needed to start. See the full comparison on the browser life simulator games collection page.
