What is Friday Fighters?

Friday Fighters is a free 2D fighting game inspired by the Friday films, made by a creator who goes by LMG. You can play it straight in your browser at fridayfighters.com: pick one of 40 fighters from Friday, Next Friday or Friday After Next, add a sidekick, and win two rounds before your opponent does.

It is an unofficial fan tribute. The film characters and names belong to their owners. If you like it, the sitcom-inspired Martin: No Filter Fighters plays in a very similar way.

How to play Friday Fighters

Our check followed these steps up to fighter select.

  1. Open fridayfighters.com and click the game window so it gets your keyboard.
  2. Press Enter at the title screen. Read the flashing-lights warning, and turn on reduced flashes in Settings if you need it.
  3. Choose 1 VS 1 or 2 VS 2 on the menu. In Arcade, each side gets one fighter with a sidekick to call in.
  4. Pick your fighter on the select screen with the arrow keys, confirm with Enter, then choose a sidekick and a stage.
  5. Each match is best of three 99-second rounds. If time runs out, the fighter with more health wins the round.

ArcadeA seven-fight ladder ending with the movie’s boss: Deebo, Joker or Robber Santa. 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 2.
Story12 chapters across all three movies. Progress saves after every win.
VS CPU and VersusOne fight against the computer, or two players on one computer.
OnlineFind Online Match, or a private room with a four-letter code. Always 1 vs 1.
Training and CPU ShowcasePractice against a dummy, or watch the computer fight itself.

Tips for your first fights

Beginner tips taken from the creator’s guide.

  1. Use the auto-combo: after a hit lands, keep tapping light punch and the chain climbs on its own.
  2. Double-tap back to backdash. You are briefly invulnerable.
  3. Your meter holds up to three bars and carries over between rounds. Save it for a Super or an Ultra.
  4. Each fighter has a signature move on toward plus heavy kick. Try it in Training first.
  5. Play Training before going online so you know your fighter’s Special and Ultra.

Friday Fighters vs Martin: No Filter Fighters

Both are free, unofficial browser fighters with sidekicks, Story and Arcade modes and online room codes. Friday Fighters has a much bigger roster of 40 slots and its own site. Martin: No Filter Fighters has 11 fighters, stage breaks that knock you into a new stage, and lives on itch.io with optional PC downloads.
